Ex Hotel Kanazawa – Ishikawa

Located in the vibrant heart of Kanazawa, Ex Hotel Kanazawa is a ten-minute walk from the station. Located near a river, the hotel offers guests a place to stay that is connected and convenient. For location, I award a 7; the road the hotel is on has no designated walking path through the tunnel, so be careful of traffic. The hotel is not available for booking and must be booked via its website or on couples. The website has better views of the rooms than the electronic board in the lobby. The board only shows a single image, which does not give you much information to choose from. Please note that this is another hotel where you need to wait for exactly an hour to check in. There is, however, a small waiting room this time. The check-in time is still very late at 9 pm. For ease of access, I award a 6.

The room was large, and there was a big bathroom, a bed and a TV. This was the largest room I had during the Golden Week period. The bath was a decent size, but nothing notable. For the price I paid, I felt the room underwhelmed. The room was clean, but it was dated; some repairs were visible, and some things, like wooden surfaces, needed some TLC. For cleanliness, I award a 7 for a score of 20.

Amenity-wise, there was nothing in the lobby; the room came with some limited freebies, but it provided everything you needed for a one-night stay. For those playing the how many blades does the razor have game, it had three, which is very fancy. For this category, I award a 6 for a score of 26. As check-in was very late, I was unable to enjoy any food, so the standard 5 points will be awarded for a score of 31.

For overall enjoyment, I award a 7. The room was big, and the bath was relaxing. The theme in the room was retro, and the bed was very comfortable. The toilet was automatic, which was fun, and the room provided enough freebies to make up for not having the usual lobby amenities bar, which almost comes as standard for new love hotels. For likely to return, I award a 6 for a total of 44. The hotel was in a good location, but I would opt to try a different one. I stayed during the build-up to Golden Week, and the price was steep for the grade of room I got. There was a lack of choice during booking, so there are a few more hotels I would try. Ishikawa was very busy, and there were a lot of cool things going on. The food options in the city also surprised me, so if I were to revisit, I would seek out, hopefully, a cooler hotel with something more to offer.
