Saga Gyu all-you-can-eat. Yakiniku Waraouya review
Just north of Saga station, Yakiniku Waraouya offers courses, including an all-you-can-eat Saga wagyu feast. This spot shines for special occasions: our bill for two came to about 22,000 yen, which included unlimited ice cream and drinks. If you are looking for somewhere to eat for that special occasion or have come on vacation and want to experience wagyu at a slightly cheaper price tag than Kobe beef, this is the place. There are two course options, with the lower standard option without the Saga wagyu being a more reasonable 8000 yen per person. The meat quality is very good here.
Once the course is selected, guests will receive a starter platter, and for those who selected the Saga wagyu course, this is a big steak of A5 Saga wagyu; the marbling is stunning, and the size they give you is more than generous, that cut alone would probably retail at about 6000 yen. So, if you are worried about getting your yen's worth, this course will very easily pay that total back. All orders are placed via a tablet.
The team that served us was very friendly and even catered to a request for an onion, which was not present on the menu. Yakiniku with onion is a majestic thing, as it provides a break from the meat. All the vegetables were fresh, and the meat quality was higher than what I usually get at my usual, cheaper all-you-can-eat location. In yakiniku, you pay for the quality of the ingredients; usually, all-you-can-eat places will offer lower-priced courses with one item being promoted as their special.
The experience was very enjoyable, and the course also offered all the other meats available. There were A5 cuts available, and you can order as much as you can eat. The restaurant will charge for any uneaten food, so be careful and know your limits. The variety of vegetables and sides is nice, and the ice cream bar has a good selection of flavours that tasted great after the meat.
After paying, I was given a gift of the salt blend the restaurant uses to season its meat, and I swear it’s the best salt seasoning ever. The flavour is so good. I highly recommend checking this place out if you’re in the area and looking to celebrate, try Saga wagyu, or even just pick up their salt blend. Please also check out my entry I wrote on Saga wagyu if you’d like to learn more about it.
