Osakas gothic Lolita hotel-Hotel Rose Lips
In the bustling heart of Osaka, Hotel Rose Lips is situated, overlooking the famous cannel and the iconic running man. The fact that this hotel is in the heart of the city makes it a 10 on location. The hotel is an 8-minute walk from Osaka's central station, where you can catch the shinkansen and trains to travel to various places in the Kansai region. The hotel is conveniently located near bus connections, and you can even hop on a ferry to explore Osaka and its canals in a unique way. Across the road from the hotel is a convenience store. If you're not keen on Seven Eleven, you can simply walk a few minutes to find another of the big three.
The hotel offers to hold luggage for guests staying that night and is also owned by women so the way this hotel runs is slightly different with its approaches to things and concepts. The hotel can be booked on their website, and guests can even request specific rooms if they are available. Make up and beauty packages are available and high-end perfume packages are on offer. The chance to reserve a specific room eliminates some of the anxiety that I have felt with Love Hotels, where I am not guaranteed a room. It also allows guests to browse rooms and provides them with the luxury of choice.
There is an electronic touch screen available at the hotel for guests looking to check in upon arrival. Additionally, the hotel receives a 10 for accessibility, bringing the total to 20, which is a perfect score thus far. I liked being able to leave my bags and knowing which room I would get was nice because I wasn't leaving it up to the "room gods."
The hotel's design can be described as gothic Lolita; imagine blacks, purples, and reds with velvet and floral lace designs. Rich velvet blankets and cushions adorned the princess-style bed in the room I selected. Those staying in the hotel with a cosplay mindset can also take advantage of the makeup services. They also offer a first for any love hotel, so fair. Male cosplay! I often find it somewhat sad that the option to dress up a male counterpart isn’t offered, and I would imagine it could be fun for both parties to enjoy dress-up aspects. Even though it was sold out over my dates, I'll give this a bonus point. Perhaps this is a sign that there's a gap in the market that love hotels should explore.
The room came with a sauna and a large jacuzzi-style bath that was metallic purple, a huge TV and a makeup table. Velvet sofa with lots of cushions and beauty services that could be ordered; they also offered high-end perfume that could be bought. The amount of beauty products at this hotel was numerous. For the amenities at this hotel, I award an 8 taking out total to 29 with the bonus points.
The hotel was very clean, and the usual plastic covered any utensil or tea-making product to validate its cleanliness. The room was smaller than some I have stayed in, but it felt cosy with all the cushions and velvets. For cleanliness and comfort, I will award an 8, taking the total to 37. The room did not feel like a hotel room; it felt like a bedroom; it was comfy.
Food is often a topic that I cannot judge due to check-in times, and this hotel was similar. I also had to leave early for the expo the next day, so for food, I will give the standard 5 as I was unable to test. The total is 42.
My overall enjoyment in this hotel was good; the bath options were fun, and the bed was very cosy. The hotel can be booked for cosplay shoots, too, at an hourly rate, so if you have any gothic characters, you can use the rooms as the perfect backdrop. Think Misa Amane from Death Note. I award 7 for this section, taking the score to 49.
Finally, rebooking, this is a slightly harder one as this area is full of love hotels and there are many more I would love to try. If the other hotels were full, I would not hesitate to rebook this hotel even though the rates were slightly higher than usual. So, for this score, I will award a 7, taking the final score to 56 for those who are keeping score, which slots Hotel Rose Lips into a joint 4th with Hotel Bvljua. I recommend this hotel if you are in the area, and maybe you can cut the price down by showing up on the day and avoiding the holidays.
