Hotel Next EM grand – Fukui
Located further outside of the city is another branch of the same hotel chain as Reso grand. This hotel is about a 25-minute walk from the station. There are buses that can reach this location which would cut the walk down but they are infrequent. This hotel was the 2025 winner on couples whilst the Reso was the 2024 winner. So, I decided to check out both after really enjoying my stay at the Reso. The location for this hotel is slightly inconvenient, I award a 5 for location. The hotel is also next to another hotel so if there is a case of it being sold out for rooms there is another hotel just down the road. The hotel stands out and looks like a European manor house, with an impressive decorative front.
For ease of access there is the same electronic board system which displays three images of the room. The three images do not really give you much information to go on. The baths were shot at creative angles to hide the fact they were small if they were featured at all. The vibe is the same as the other hotel however. The rooms are modern and elegant most featuring a smallish space, with a bed, sofa and large tv. Like the other hotel payment is requested up front which can make the checking out process faster. So, for this I award a 7 for a total of 12.
Just like the Reso the hotel is very clean and new, all the utensils and cups are in plastic so you know things have been cleaned. The room was a nice temperature and the controls for it were easy. Some love hotels have so many buttons and switches for the multitude of lights that it can sometimes be a challenge to turn them all out when you want to sleep. But this hotel is nice and simple which I appreciate. For comfort and cleanliness, I award an 8.
For amenities the hotel has a similar set up as the Reso however the selection was smaller. No doubt extras could be ordered via the room tv, but the front lobby selection was smaller. The room came with the same freebies and the same drinks bar was set up minus the section for alcohol. Another hot chocolate was enjoyed and I enjoyed another warm stay in Fukui. For this I award a 7 for a total of 27.
For food this time I didn’t order anything as I enjoyed a big meal in Fukui but the same menu is on offer as the other hotel. The menu is wide and offers a lot of choice I was blown away by the quality and taste at the Reso so the food here is most likely just as great. The chain claims to have a chef which is believable and also rare for love hotels as food is generally not their selling point. So, for this I award a 6 on the basis the food is just as good but I didn’t actually try it myself so unsure if the quality carries over from hotel to hotel in the branch. The score is now 33.
My overall enjoyment of this hotel was about equal to the other this hotel room offered a little more space. But the space felt comfortable and clean I enjoyed the big bed and had plenty of space to sprawl out. The freebies made for an enjoyable time and another fun bath was had. This chain is certainly a dependable one if you are ever in this prefecture. It seems like most of the features stay the same from hotel to hotel which is unique. Often chains like to push different themes and vibes between hotels to try appealing to more people. But this hotel chain pushes elegance and modernism which I like. I award a 7 for a new total of 40.
Finally rebooking. If I was in Fukui again this chain would certainly be one, I look for as the food was very enjoyable for me. However, I would probably opt for the closer hotel to the station despite this one having a little more space. The freebies and the food make up for the lack of space and the space was handled very nicely. So, for rebooking I give a 6 as I would opt for the Reso again. The final score is 46/70 which is 5 points below the Reso but the location was where most point were gained.
